Pomona Man to Plead in Fatal Crash Involving Three Deaths
POMONA, Calif. – Marshall Campbell Judson, a 31-year-old resident of Pomona, is scheduled to enter a plea in court on Tuesday related to a tragic high-speed police chase that resulted in the deaths of a young couple and their unborn child.
Judson has been charged with three counts of murder, three counts of fleeing a peace officer’s motor vehicle causing death, one count of assault with a deadly weapon upon a peace officer, and one count of carrying a concealed and unregistered firearm. If convicted on all charges, he could face a sentence of 57 years to life in prison.
The incident occurred on April 1, when Pomona police officers were responding to a domestic violence call. According to prosecutors, Judson drove aggressively past patrol cars, reversing into one and nearly hitting an officer. He then fled through a residential area at speeds exceeding 100 mph.
At the intersection of Garey Avenue and County Road, Judson allegedly crashed into a vehicle occupied by Marc Anthony Trejo Saldivar, 26, and Jennifer Alejandra Loera Zarco, 25. At the time of the collision, Zarco was nine months pregnant. Tragically, both she and her unborn baby, along with her boyfriend, lost their lives at the scene.
Following the crash, police discovered a loaded, unregistered firearm in Judson’s truck, further complicating his legal situation.
Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman expressed condolences to the victims’ families, describing the incident as "heartbreaking and enraging." He noted that instead of celebrating the impending arrival of a child, the families are now planning funerals. Hochman also emphasized the commitment to seeking the maximum possible sentence to ensure accountability in this case.
