Ghosts to Air Holiday Specials Before Season 6 Premiere in Spring 2026
CBS is embracing the holiday season with two upcoming specials for its popular series, Ghosts, scheduled to air this fall.
Although Ghosts will not return for Season 6 until 2027, the network announced on Wednesday that viewers can look forward to a Halloween and a Christmas special, each set to span one hour.
While specific dates for these specials have yet to be announced, they are anticipated to air close to their respective holidays.
Holiday episodes have become a tradition for Ghosts. Last December, the two-part midseason finale featured a visit from Carol (Caroline Aaron), who appeared to Sam in a manner reminiscent of A Christmas Carol, illustrating the potential consequences of her past choices.
According to CBS, Season 6 of Ghosts will include a full order of 22 episodes upon its spring premiere. The series is set to retain its Thursday night time slot, currently occupied by the new sitcom Eternally Yours, created by Joe Port and Joe Wiseman.

Ghosts has proven to be a success for CBS, consistently ranking among the top 20 broadcast shows. This season, episodes are averaging 6.08 million viewers, a figure that places the series ahead of both Boston Blue and Elsbeth. After 28 days, the Season 5 premiere attracted 10.3 million viewers across both broadcast and streaming platforms, according to Nielsen Big Data + Panel.
The series stars Rose McIver and Utkarsh Ambudkar as a couple who inherit a dilapidated mansion in upstate New York, which they aim to transform into a bed and breakfast. Following a near-death experience, McIver’s character gains the ability to see the ghosts residing in the home. The ensemble cast also includes Danielle Pinnock, Rebecca Wisocky, Brandon Scott Jones, Richie Moriarty, Asher Grodman, Román Zaragoza, Sheila Carrasco, and Devan Chandler Long.
In addition to their roles as showrunners, Port and Wiseman also serve as executive producers.
