New NCIS Spinoff Heads to New York: LL Cool J and Scott Caan Take on Exciting New Roles
CBS Announces New NCIS Spinoff: NCIS: New York
CBS is set to introduce a new spinoff of its popular franchise, NCIS, titled NCIS: New York, which will premiere this fall.
The series features LL Cool J reprising his role as NCIS Agent Sam Hanna. He returns to his roots in New York City, where he will collaborate with a new partner, a roguish agent played by Scott Caan. Together, they will lead a fresh team tasked with high-stakes missions in one of the world’s most critical cities and ports.
NCIS: New York is scheduled to air on Tuesday nights at 9 p.m., positioned between the flagship show NCIS at 8 p.m. and NCIS: Origins at 10 p.m. Additionally, NCIS: Sydney will join the lineup later in the season, replacing NCIS: Origins.
The pilot episode comes from The Pitt creator R. Scott Gemmill, who previously served as showrunner for NCIS: Los Angeles for seven seasons. He wrote for all 14 seasons of that series, marking the beginning of LL Cool J’s journey in the NCIS universe. Byron Balasco, known for creating the Audience Network series Kingdom, will take on the role of showrunner for NCIS: New York.
NCIS: Los Angeles, which aired from 2009 to 2023, focused on the high-risk operations of a specialized division of NCIS dedicated to apprehending dangerous criminals threatening national security. The series featured a talented cast, including Chris O’Donnell, Medalion Rahimi, Linda Hunt, Daniela Ruah, Eric Christian Olsen, Barrett Foa, and Renée Felice Smith.
For fans eager for a preview of LL Cool J’s character, he is expected to appear in two upcoming episodes of NCIS on April 21 and 28.
