Focus Features Shares New Trailer for Robert Eggers’ Latest Film ‘Werwulf’ at CinemaCon
Focus Features has unveiled a first look at Werwulf, a gothic horror film directed by Robert Eggers, known for his work on Nosferatu. The reveal took place during CinemaCon in Las Vegas, where the initial trailer was presented exclusively to attendees. Eggers described Werwulf as his “most terrifying picture yet.”
While an official logline has yet to be provided, early insights suggest that the film is set in 13th-century England and revolves around werewolves. Eggers reunites with a talented cast, including Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Lily-Rose Depp, Willem Dafoe, and Ralph Ineson.
The trailer presents a dark and foreboding atmosphere, featuring whispers of a curse and scenes of a house engulfed in flames. It concludes with a striking image of Taylor-Johnson appearing to transform into a werewolf.
Continuing his tradition of blending horror with historical narratives, Eggers has previously directed The Witch, The Lighthouse, The Northman, and Nosferatu. He co-wrote the script for Werwulf with his frequent collaborator, Sjón. This project continues Eggers’ collaboration with Focus Features, following the success of Nosferatu, which grossed approximately $181 million worldwide.
Focus Features financed Werwulf, producing the film alongside Eggers and Sjón. Chris and Eleanor Columbus of Maiden Voyage serve as executive producers. The film is set to be released on Christmas Day.
