Gen V Ends After 2 Seasons, But Get Ready for The Boys’ New Spinoff Vought Rising in 2027
Amazon Prime Video Ends Gen V After Second Season
Prime Video’s superhero franchise takes another turn as the spin-off series Gen V will not return for a third season. The announcement follows six months after the conclusion of Season 2 of the young adult drama, set in the Godolkin University School of Crimefighting.
This decision was anticipated, particularly as one of the series’ stars, Asa Germann, recently secured a regular role in Paramount+’s upcoming series Frisco King.
As Gen V wraps up, its parent series, The Boys, will conclude its five-season run on May 20. Nevertheless, the franchise will continue with the upcoming spin-off Vought Rising, scheduled for debut in 2027.
The interconnected storytelling within the Vought Cinematic Universe (VCU) ensures that characters from Gen V are incorporated into the current fifth season of The Boys. These narratives were established in the Season 2 finale of Gen V, where characters known as "supes" were enlisted by Annie January, portrayed by Erin Moriarty, in the fight against Homelander’s oppressive regime—a central theme in the critically acclaimed series’ final chapters.
“We wish we could keep the party going another season at Godolkin,” stated VCU executive producers Eric Kripke and Evan Goldberg. “We’re committed to continuing the Gen V characters’ stories in The Boys Season 5 and other VCU projects on the horizon. You’ll see them again.”
In addition to Vought Rising, The Boys: Mexico remains in active development. All series within this franchise are produced by Sony Pictures Television, Amazon MGM Studios, with Kripke Enterprises, Original Film, and Point Grey Pictures.
Launched with strong viewership, Gen V was renewed for a second season midway through its inaugural run. However, the series faced a significant setback with the tragic passing of star Chance Perdomo in a motorcycle accident in March 2024, which delayed production on the second season.
Season 2 featured performances from Jaz Sinclair as Marie Moreau, Lizze Broadway as Emma Meyer, Maddie Phillips as Cate Dunlap, London Thor and Derek Luh as Jordan Li, along with Germann, Sean Patrick Thomas as Polarity, and Hamish Linklater as Dean Cipher. Michele Fazekas served as showrunner and executive producer, alongside a team of producers including Kripke, Seth Rogen, and Goldberg.
Vought Rising will star Aya Cash and Jensen Ackles, both of whom also hold producer roles. The series will be overseen by showrunner and executive producer Paul Grellong, who, along with Kripke, Rogen, and others, will contribute to its development.
