Southern Section Division 1 Semifinals: A Showdown of Boys’ Volleyball Teams
Southern Section Division 1 Semifinals Set for Saturday: Top Boys’ Volleyball Teams Face Off
Excitement builds as four elite high school boys’ volleyball teams prepare to clash in the Southern Section Division 1 semifinals this Saturday. The matches promise thrilling action, starting with Huntington Beach hosting top-seeded Mira Costa at 1 p.m., followed by Loyola taking on Redondo Union at 5 p.m.
All participating teams have shown they can compete against one another, making this a highly anticipated event. With teams finally at full strength, the potential for dramatic five-game matches looms large.
Mira Costa enters the contests as the frontrunner. With an impressive 31-2 record, they feature Mateo Fuerbringer, the top college recruit from the class of 2027. Notably, Redondo Union is one of the few teams to have bested Mira Costa this season. Loyola aims for victory, having recently regained its health, which included a five-game win against Redondo Union and a close five-game loss to Mira Costa. Huntington Beach, meanwhile, has experienced two three-game losses to Mira Costa this season.
The championship match is scheduled for next weekend at Cerritos College, leading up to the Southern California regional and state championships.
