Walbert Ureña Helps Angels Secure Series Victory Over White Sox
Angels Secure Victory Over White Sox in 8-2 Win
The Los Angeles Angels triumphed over the Chicago White Sox with an 8-2 victory on Wednesday. Highlighting the performance, Travis d’Arnaud launched a three-run home run, while pitcher Walbert Ureña delivered a standout six-inning, two-hit effort.
This win marks the Angels’ first series victory since April 10-12 against Cincinnati. The team now stands at 15-23 this season, with a series record of 2-7-2.
D’Arnaud’s 396-foot home run off Noah Schultz, the backup catcher’s first of the season, ignited a five-run second inning for the Angels. Following the home run, Bryce Teodosio doubled on a ball that sailed past right fielder Jarred Kelenic, leading to Zach Neto’s stand-up RBI triple.
Mike Trout contributed further by bringing in an additional run with a popup that second baseman Chase Meidroth lost in the sunlight.
In the fourth inning, reliever Osvaldo Bido hit Jorge Soler and Jo Adell with back-to-back pitches while the bases were loaded, leading to two more runs for the Angels.
Ureña (1-3) allowed just one run, struck out five batters, and walked three in his second quality start of the season. The pitching tandem of Brent Suter, Drew Pomeranz, and Chase Silseth completed the game, holding the White Sox to a total of four hits.
On the other side of the plate, Meidroth produced two hits for Chicago (17-20), while rookie sensation Munetaka Murakami, who is tied for the major league lead with 14 home runs, struggled, striking out four times.
Schultz (2-2) had a challenging outing, giving up seven hits and seven runs over 3⅔ innings. Notably, he had previously allowed only six earned runs across four starts this season.
Looking ahead, the Angels are set to begin a three-game series against the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday. Reid Detmers (1-2, 4.28 ERA) will take the mound as the Angels face Blue Jays pitcher Dylan Cease (2-1, 3.05 ERA).
