Shea Whigham Joins Netflix’s ‘Untamed’ for Its Second Season
Shea Whigham, recognized for his portrayal of a racing boss in F1 and a Republican politician in Death by Lightning, is set to embark on a new adventure in Hawaii. The actor, best known for his role in HBO’s Boardwalk Empire, will appear in the upcoming second season of Netflix’s dramatic series Untamed.
This season marks a shift in location from Yosemite National Park, where Season 1 was filmed, to the breathtaking Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park. The storyline follows Eric Bana’s character, ISB agent Kyle Turner, as he investigates a mysterious death within the park, facing local tensions and the unpredictable, fiery landscape.
Whigham takes on the role of Ray Burkart, a character who relocated to the Big Island of Hawaii 30 years ago and is involved in various businesses, some of which are on the shady side. His character’s journey becomes particularly intense after the tragic loss of his son, leading to a confrontation with Turner as they seek justice for the child’s murder.
The six-part series is co-created by Mark L. Smith and Elle Smith, with Warner Bros. Television producing. Alongside the Smiths, executive producers include Bana, John Wells, and Erin Jontow of John Wells Productions, Todd Black and Tony Shaw of Escape Artists Entertainment, Steve Lee Jones of Bee Holder Productions, and Cliff Roberts of Syndicate Entertainment.
In addition to Untamed, Whigham recently appeared in Netflix’s limited series American Primeval, the neo-noir crime thriller Lake George, and Eileen, co-starring Anne Hathaway and Thomasin McKenzie. He can also be seen in Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning. Whigham is represented by WME and Range.
