Writers Dan Dworkin and Jay Beattie Join Fox’s New Drama ‘The Interrogator’
Writers and producers Dan Dworkin and Jay Beattie, known for their work on The Lost Symbol, have been appointed as executive producers and showrunners for Fox’s upcoming drama series The Interrogator. The project, featuring British actor-comedian Stephen Fry, has secured a 12-episode straight-to-series order for the 2026-27 season. It is co-produced by Lionsgate Television and Fox Entertainment Studios.
The Interrogator follows former MI6 agent Conrad Henry, portrayed by Fry, and his elite team as they navigate the complexities of criminal behavior. When traditional investigative methods fall short, Henry employs his unique charm and intellectual prowess to delve into the minds of the world’s most dangerous criminals.
The pilot script was penned by Fry, with important revisions from Matt Pyken and Bill Harper, whose contributions were pivotal in obtaining the green light for the series. Dworkin and Beattie will collaborate with Fry, Harper, Pyken, and director Paul McGuigan, along with Anonymous Content, Neil Burger, and Likely Story’s Anthony Bregman and Miriam Mintz.
This venture marks a notable collaboration for Dworkin and Beattie, who have partnered for over 15 years on several acclaimed projects including American Horror Story, Star Trek: Discovery, and Criminal Minds. They previously co-created the Scream anthology series for MTV and The Crossing for ABC, most recently serving as co-creators and showrunners on Dan Brown’s The Lost Symbol for Peacock, as well as consulting producers on the first season of Netflix’s Outer Banks.
In addition to his work on The Interrogator, Dworkin has written the horror feature film Inground, starring Alexandra Daddario, which is set to begin production in April. He recently concluded his role as consulting producer on the Apple TV and Legendary series Monarch. Dworkin is represented by Adventure Media and Stuart Rosenthal of Goodman Genow Schenkman Smelkinson & Christopher.
Beattie, on the other hand, recently served as a consulting producer for the fifth season of Outer Banks and on ABC’s Alaska Daily. He is also represented by Verve, Adventure Media, and Stuart Rosenthal of Goodman Genow Schenkman Smelkinson & Christopher.
