June Squibb Cast in the Final Season of ‘Yellowjackets’
June Squibb Joins Final Season of Showtime’s Yellowjackets
June Squibb, known for her roles in Eleanor the Great and Thelma, will join the cast of Showtime’s acclaimed series Yellowjackets for its fourth and final season. Specific details about her character remain undisclosed.
Created and executive produced by Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson, Yellowjackets follows a high school girls’ soccer team that survives a plane crash in the remote wilderness. The series skillfully intertwines elements of survival, psychological horror, and coming-of-age drama, chronicling the team’s transformation from a group of skilled athletes to fractured clans. Nearly 25 years later, the narrative revisits the now-adult survivors as they grapple with their tumultuous past.
The current cast features Sophie Nélisse, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Samantha Hanratty, Sophie Thatcher, and Courtney Eaton. Nia Sondaya, who portrays Teen Akilah, was promoted to series regular earlier this month. Additionally, Molly Ringwald has been announced to make a recurring appearance in the final season.
Produced by Lionsgate Television and Creative Engine, Season 3’s executive producers include Lyle, Nickerson, and Jonathan Lisco. Drew Comins of Creative Engine, along with Jeff W. Byrd, Sarah L. Thompson, Ameni Rozsa, and Brad Van Arragon, also serve as executive producers. The series is distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution.
Squibb’s recent film credits include Eleanor the Great, Thelma, Lost and Found in Cleveland, and a remake of the cult classic Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead. She gained significant acclaim for her performance in Nebraska, which earned her nominations for a SAG award, a Golden Globe, and an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. Other notable works in her filmography include About Schmidt, Inside Out 2, Hubie Halloween, Table 19, The Humans, Palmer, Family Squares, Godmothered, Soul, Palm Springs, and Toy Story 4.
In television, Squibb has appeared in various series including Little America, Life and Beth, Little Ellen, Room 104, Good Girls, The Good Doctor, Grey’s Anatomy, Shameless, The Big Bang Theory, Modern Family, Getting On, Mom, Triumph the Wonder Dog, Glee, Girls, Mike and Molly, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Judging Amy, and ER. She is represented by BRS/Gage.
