Disney’s "Zootopia 2" Surpasses $915.8 Million at the Global Box Office
After just two weekends in theaters, Disney’s highly anticipated sequel, Zootopia 2, has achieved a remarkable milestone, grossing $915.8 million worldwide. This total includes $695.3 million from the international box office, with projections indicating the film will cross the $1 billion mark within the coming week.
The film’s continued strong performance, directed by Jared Bush and Byron Howard, has set multiple new records. Currently, Zootopia 2 stands as the third highest-grossing Hollywood release of 2025 globally, and the number one international release. Notably, in China, the film has reached $430.4 million, making it the second highest-grossing studio film in that market, trailing only Avengers: Endgame.
This weekend marked Zootopia 2‘s debut in Japan, where it opened at number one with $12.3 million, becoming the second-best launch ever for a Hollywood movie in the country, second only to Frozen 2.
During its second weekend abroad, Zootopia 2 earned $219 million across 52 markets, experiencing a 40% drop in revenue, or 27% when excluding China. Key markets showcased strong performance, including Vietnam (+45%), Taiwan (+13%), and Brazil (-16%).
The sequel has surpassed its predecessor in several markets, including China, Korea, Mexico, and Brazil, and has established new records as the highest-grossing Walt Disney Animation Studios release in both China and Vietnam.
The top five markets for the film as of now are China ($430.4 million), France ($27.3 million), Korea ($25.6 million), Mexico ($18.6 million), and Germany ($16.2 million). Imax screenings have contributed $49.2 million to the global total.
This weekend’s success also pushed Disney past $5 billion in global box office revenue for 2025, totaling $5.102 billion, making it the first studio to reach this milestone this year and achieving the feat for the third consecutive time since 2018.
In contrast, Universal and Blumhouse-Atomic Monster’s Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 debuted with a worldwide gross of $109.1 million, exceeding pre-weekend projections. The film garnered an international estimate of $46.1 million from 76 markets, performing better than Final Destination Bloodlines and Annabelle Comes Home, and more than doubling the earnings of Smile 2, not including previews.
In Mexico, Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 opened with $6.9 million, marking the second-largest horror opening of the year, second only to Conjuring: Last Rites. The film also earned $4.4 million in the UK and Ireland, becoming Universal’s highest-grossing horror opening to date.
Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 grossed $3.2 million in Brazil and $2.9 million in Spain, both of which were above the earnings of its predecessor. Australia also saw a strong debut with $2.4 million, securing the second-biggest horror opening of the year.
Meanwhile, Universal’s Wicked: For Good crossed the $400 million global mark earlier this week, grossing $13.4 million from 80 international markets during this session, bringing its total to $440.1 million worldwide.
