David Harbour Cast as Major Trautman, Mentoring Noah Centineo in John Rambo
Actor David Harbour has joined the cast of Lionsgate’s upcoming prequel to the iconic Rambo franchise. Harbour, a Golden Globe nominee, will portray Major Trautman, the commanding officer of John Rambo, a role played by Noah Centineo.
The film, titled John Rambo, is directed by Jalmari Helander and is based on a screenplay by Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvan. Set years before the events of First Blood, the film will explore the early experiences that shaped one of cinema’s most enduring characters.
In addition to Centineo and Harbour, the cast includes yao from Sinners, Jason Tobin from A Thousand Blows, Quincy Isaiah from Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty, Jefferson White from Yellowstone, and Tayme Thapthimthong from The White Lotus.
The character of John Rambo first appeared in Sylvester Stallone’s portrayal in First Blood (1982), alongside Richard Crenna as Colonel Sam Trautman. The duo reprised their roles in Rambo: First Blood Part II (1985) and Rambo III (1988). Crenna passed away in 2003, prior to Stallone’s return in Rambo (2008) and Rambo: Last Blood (2019).
