Scott Stuber and Amazon Revitalize United Artists with Patrick Chu as New Television Lead
Scott Stuber Appoints Patrick Chu as Head of Television for United Artists
Scott Stuber has announced the appointment of Patrick Chu as the Head of Television at United Artists, a production company relaunched in partnership with Amazon MGM Studios. This strategic move is part of Stuber’s plan to enhance the company’s television division.
In his new role, Chu will report directly to Stuber and will be responsible for leading the television department, overseeing the development and production of shows, which includes the NASCAR family drama series Godspeed in collaboration with Amazon and Sugar23.
Chu brings a wealth of experience to the position, having served as the Head of Television at Annapurna since 2022. During his tenure, he executive-produced The Changeling and two seasons of the animated comedy Sausage Party. Moreover, he was involved in producing the recently released film The Testament of Ann Lee, directed by Mona Fastvold, and Olivia Wilde’s acclaimed Sundance hit The Invite, set to release this June under A24.
Prior to his role at Annapurna, Chu was a drama programming and development executive at Amazon Studios, where he managed the television adaptations of Hanna and Hunters. His experience also includes serving as Vice President of Production & Acquisitions at FilmNation, where he produced Kill Switch, executive-produced Miss Sloane, and contributed to films such as Life Itself and the Oscar-winning Arrival. Chu began his career at William Morris Agency and later joined Ivan Reitman’s The Montecito Picture Company as a creative executive.
At United Artists, Stuber is currently developing several projects, including a feature on Lance Armstrong directed by Edward Berger, Lizard Music, a collaboration between Dwayne Johnson and Benny Safdie, Michael Mann’s Heat 2, and a new iteration of Highlander starring Henry Cavill.
“Patrick has both an exceptional eye for bold storytelling and an extraordinary depth of experience across the industry,” Stuber remarked. “As we build out our TV slate, we know his expertise and sensibility will help us deliver impactful shows that reach audiences across the world.”
Reflecting on his new role, Chu stated, “Building off of the incredible slate of movies Scott and the team are producing, I’m excited to follow his vision and bring great TV stories to life.”
