CAA Partners with GLAAD and Others to Support Inclusive Storytelling Efforts
Five years after its inception, the Creative Artists Agency (CAA) has unveiled a redesigned version of its Full Story Initiative, aimed at enhancing equitable onscreen storytelling. This revamped digital toolkit, announced on Wednesday, is the result of collaboration with notable organizations, including GLAAD, New America, and MPAC.
The updated platform offers writers and creators a wealth of resources to craft socially-conscious narratives in film and television. Key features include searchable statistics, case studies, storytelling insights, and direct collaboration pathways with partner organizations, all tailored to authentically represent marginalized communities.
In response to user feedback, the initiative also incorporates community buying power data and research examining the impact of creative collaborations. These additions are designed to enhance commercial success and audience engagement, providing actionable insights that creators can integrate into their work.
“The Full Story Initiative was originally built to connect storytellers with credible research and expert partners,” stated CAA executive Dennis St. Rose. “What we heard from creators over time was that they wanted something more practical and development-focused. This evolution keeps the same mission but delivers it in a more accessible format, giving writers and creators a working tool they can use quickly as they build stories.”
Alex Schmider, Senior Director of Entertainment at GLAAD, emphasized the importance of inclusive storytelling. “Authentic and inclusive stories succeed with audiences,” he said. “GLAAD, and all of the organizations in the Full Story Initiative, bring proven value to entertainment companies by providing subject matter expertise and customized audience insights. This will make projects more successful, benefitting the project, the artists behind it, and our communities.”
Additional partners that have joined the initiative include the WGA Jewish Writers Committee, Human Rights Watch, and the Kids Mental Health Foundation. They join established organizations such as the ACLU, Coalition of Asian Pacifics in Entertainment, and Planned Parenthood Federation of America.
Launched in 2021, the Full Story Initiative serves as a centralized platform that provides research, resources, and partnerships to promote responsible storytelling in film and television.
