Sabrina Carpenter Subtly Shifts Focus After Split from Barry Keoghan

In a series of recent social media posts, Sabrina Carpenter seems to have cast subtle shade at her ex-boyfriend, actor Barry Keoghan. The singer, 26, reposted two TikTok videos reflecting on their breakup, featuring the phrase, “It’s been a tough year, but at least I didn’t get back with my ex.” The videos were set to her song “Manchild.”

Representatives for both Carpenter and Keoghan did not respond to requests for comment regarding the posts.

Carpenter and Keoghan, 33, were first linked romantically in December 2023 after they were spotted dining together in Los Angeles. The couple frequently appeared together in public, sharing affectionate moments and exchanging sweet comments on social media. However, Carpenter remained coy about their relationship status during a June 2025 interview with Rolling Stone, humorously sidestepping a question about whether she called Keoghan her boyfriend.

By August 2025, an inside source revealed that the relationship was “on and off.” In a notable move, Carpenter cast Keoghan in the music video for her song “Please Please Please” earlier this year, later commending his acting skills in an interview with CBS Sunday Morning.

After announcing their split in December 2025, Keoghan publicly deactivated his Instagram account, citing excessive online harassment. “I can only sit and take so much,” he wrote in a message on social media, expressing concern over the negative attention and its effects on his professional and personal life.

Keoghan stressed that no one should have to endure the intense scrutiny he faced, which included "absolute lies, hatred, and disgusting commentary" about various aspects of his life.
