Rivals Season 2 Trailer: Disney+’s Hilarious Series Returns for More Fun
Disney+ Launches Anticipated Second Season of Rivals on May 15
Disney+ has unveiled the trailer for the second season of its acclaimed series Rivals, set to premiere on May 15. The show has been dubbed “the naughtiest show on television,” and the trailer features a returning cast that fans have come to love.
The upcoming season sees actors David Tennant, Danny Dyer, Aidan Turner, Katherine Parkinson, and Emily Atack reprise their roles, with Alex Hassell also returning as one of the standout characters from Season 1. New to the ensemble are Hayley Atwell and Rupert Everett, promising to add fresh dynamics to the storyline.
In this season, the battle for the Central South West television franchise intensifies as the rivalry between Corinium and Venturer escalates. Tony Baddingham, portrayed by Tennant, is depicted as more ruthless than ever, aiming to dismantle his competitors while using scandal and manipulation to secure his power.
Set against the backdrop of the hedonistic glamour of the 1980s, the personal lives of the characters spiral into chaos, creating a compelling mix of drama and intrigue.
Rivals Season 2 is a Hulu original, available on Disney+ outside the United States. The season will be released in two batches, each containing six episodes.
Since the conclusion of the first season, the literary world mourned the loss of Jilly Cooper, the author of the original source material and an executive producer for Season 1. Tributes poured in after her passing, and her friend, Queen Camilla, visited the set of Season 2.
The series is produced by Happy Prince, a company under ITV Studios, and features executive producers including Dominic Treadwell-Collins, Alexander Lamb, Felicity Blunt, Elliot Hegarty, and Olivier Award-winning playwright Laura Wade. It is written by Treadwell-Collins, Wade, Sophie Goodhart, Sam Hoare, Mimi Hare, Clare Naylor, Sorcha Kurien-Walsh, and Dare Aiyegbayo, with direction from Elliot Hegarty, Jamie J Johnson, and Dee Koppang O’Leary. Rivals is based on the eponymous novel, part of Cooper’s bestselling Rutshire Chronicles, and was commissioned by Lee Mason, VP of Scripted Content for Disney+ EMEA.
