Ray Romano, Denis Leary, and Queen Latifah Share Exciting Details About ‘Ice Age: Boiling Point’ at CinemaCon
20th Century Studios has released the first trailer for Ice Age: Boiling Point, marking the franchise’s return after more than a decade. The film is set to hit theaters next February.
The trailer, unveiled during an event in Las Vegas on Thursday, showcases the franchise’s beloved character Scrat, the squirrel, who is now a parent. In a comedic twist, Scrat and his baby engage in a playful struggle over an acorn, which Scrat eventually transforms into a pacifier for his child.
Amidst the comedic scenes, an active volcano looms in the background, unleashing lava that forces Scrat and his baby to leap from one ice floe to another in a desperate bid for survival.

During the promotional event, franchise stalwarts Ray Romano, Denis Leary, and Queen Latifah shared insights about the film. Romano humorously addressed the audience, saying, “Trump hasn’t landed yet, so relax. … I don’t know what I’m talking about.”
Reflecting on the franchise’s longevity, Romano quipped, “The real Ice Age didn’t last this long. When we did [2002’s] Ice Age 1, I know I wasn’t wearing compression socks or reading glasses.” Leary added with a lighthearted touch that Romano has recently become a grandfather.
Latifah noted that the latest installment finds the main characters — a group of animals navigating their Ice Age existence — at a “little fork in the road in their lives.” The ensemble characterizes their upcoming adventure as a journey to a lost world filled with new dangers, including the looming volcano.
The Ice Age animated series began in 2002 with a film directed by Chris Wedge and Carlos Saldanha, which achieved commercial success, grossing over $383 million worldwide. Initially under the auspices of 21st Century Fox’s Blue Sky Studios, the franchise is now under Disney’s management following its acquisition of Fox in 2019.
The original film was followed by four sequels: Ice Age: The Meltdown (2006), Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs (2009), Ice Age: Continental Drift (2012), and Ice Age: Collision Course (2016). Collectively, these films have generated over $3.2 billion in global box office revenue.
In addition to the return of voice actors John Leguizamo and Simon Pegg, Ice Age: Boiling Point will be the first theatrical release in the franchise not produced by Blue Sky Studios since its closure in April 2021. The film is produced by Lori Forte and Patrick Worlock.
