Mookie Betts Steps into Coaching Role for NBA All-Star Celebrity Game
Los Angeles Gears Up for 2026 NBA All-Star Weekend
Los Angeles will host the 2026 NBA All-Star Weekend from February 12 to 15, bringing a series of highly anticipated events to the city.
In a significant announcement on Tuesday, Dodgers superstar Mookie Betts confirmed he will coach the Ruffles NBA All-Star Celebrity Game on February 13 in Inglewood, California. The eight-time MLB All-Star and four-time World Series champion will lead a star-studded lineup that includes ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania, rapper GloRilla, music producer Mustard, country singer Shaboozey, and actor Rome Flynn.
“I will be taking a break from breaking NBA news on my cell phone to suit up for the pro-am game,” Charania said, highlighting the unique crossover appeal of the event.
Following the celebrity game, All-Star Saturday will feature an array of contests, including the skills challenge, three-point contest, and slam dunk contest at the Intuit Dome. The main event, the NBA All-Star Game, is set to tip off at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
While the Dodgers organization is relieved that Betts will not be playing in the celebrity game—ensuring their star remains injury-free—some fans may be disappointed not to see the former MVP showcase his athletic talents beyond baseball. Betts has demonstrated his versatility in various sports, including recent golf competitions and bowling, where he has achieved multiple perfect games. He also has a history of playing basketball in high school and has been seen dunking on video.
As the All-Star Weekend approaches, anticipation builds for the blend of sports and celebrity that the event promises, marking a significant occasion for fans and the community.
