### Miss Jamaica Dr. Gabrielle Henry Addresses Stage Fall at Miss Universe
Miss Jamaica, Dr. Gabrielle Henry, experienced a fall off the stage during the preliminary evening gown round of the Miss Universe competition held in Thailand on November 19. She took to Instagram on December 19 to address the incident, expressing her gratitude for the support she received and her sense of healing since returning to Jamaica. “I am grateful to be in Jamaica and to feel the familiar strength of Jamaica surrounding me 💚🖤💛,” she wrote.
Following the incident, a joint press release from the Miss Universe Organization (MUO) and Henry’s family provided details about her injuries, which included an intracranial hemorrhage, loss of consciousness, and facial lacerations. Henry is now focused on her recovery, employing social media to keep her followers informed. “In a time that calls for stillness and healing, I am grateful to be in Jamaica and to feel the familiar strength of Jamaica surrounding me,” she emphasized in her post alongside photos from the competition.
Henry acknowledged the outpouring of support from her family, friends, and fellow Jamaicans throughout her ordeal. “I extend sincere thanks to my family, friends, for every prayer lifted on my behalf and to those who stood with me through moments seen and unseen,” she stated.
Expressing her appreciation for her medical teams, she also reflected on her dual roles as Miss Jamaica Universe 2025 and an ophthalmology resident. “Moments of darkness do not diminish vision; they refine it,” she wrote, underlining her commitment to healing and service.
As she continues her recovery, Henry is inspired by the resilience of her fellow countrymen. “While I continue to recover, I am inspired by the way Jamaicans rise, undeterred, after adversity,” she noted. Many have voiced their support for Henry, including Miss Universe Fátima Bosch, who praised her strength in a heartfelt comment.
Henry was admitted to intensive care in Bangkok immediately following her fall, where she remained under constant observation. Her family, including her sister and mother, were by her side throughout her recovery journey.
As she navigates this challenging period, Henry remains optimistic for the future, indicating that she plans to share more about her experience in due time.
