Filming for ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Finishes, Director Destin Daniel Cretton Shares His Joy in Creating It
Production on Spider-Man: Brand New Day has officially concluded, following Tom Holland’s involvement as Peter Parker, which began in August. The news was announced by director Destin Daniel Cretton on Friday.
Cretton confirmed that the highly anticipated fourth installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Spider-Man franchise is set to serve as a prelude to Avengers: Doomsday, scheduled for theatrical release on July 31.
In a heartfelt message shared on Instagram, Cretton expressed gratitude for the collaborative effort throughout the production, saying, “I’m so deeply grateful for the people who walked with me through the biggest, most rewarding film I’ve ever been a part of.” He acknowledged his family for their unwavering support and included a collection of photos featuring himself alongside Holland and the film’s cast and crew.
Cretton further praised the cast and crew, stating, “To our amazing cast, for breathing so much life into these beloved characters and moving us every day. To our unbelievable crew, who worked tirelessly with unmatched creativity and craftsmanship, who made me laugh so hard my stomach never stopped hurting.” He highlighted Holland’s leadership and dedication, concluding with, “That’s a wrap on Spider-Man: Brand New Day!”
Filming, which began in Scotland in August, experienced a temporary halt in September due to Holland receiving treatment for a mild concussion sustained during a stunt. He was examined at a hospital but did not require admission, and no other cast or crew members were affected.
Directed by Cretton, known for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, the film features producers Amy Pascal and Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige. Zendaya will reprise her role as MJ, while Sadie Sink and Liza Colón-Zayas are also set to join the cast in undisclosed roles.
