In a heartfelt display of family and philanthropy, Prince William took his son, Prince George, to The Passage charity in London on December 16, 2025. The duo participated in the preparation of the annual holiday lunch for the unhoused, reflecting a poignant family legacy tied to this significant cause.
The Prince of Wales, 43, introduced the 12-year-old George to The Passage, a charity that has personal significance for William. He was first taken there by his late mother, Princess Diana, at the age of 11, an experience that has shaped his commitment to addressing homelessness. During this visit, George signed the charity’s visitors’ book on the same page as his grandmother and father, creating a meaningful connection across generations.
On their visit, William and George engaged in various activities, such as assembling care packages and baking cupcakes for attendees. They also helped decorate a Christmas tree, previously used in Kate Middleton’s "Together at Christmas" carol service.

During their time at The Passage, George was introduced to several service users, who shared their experiences and discussed the valuable support provided by the charity.
"It was important to the Prince of Wales to share with Prince George the work of The Passage and to spend time volunteering alongside the team," a spokesperson noted. "They both greatly enjoyed meeting staff, volunteers, and service users as well as learning more about the charity’s work."
This visit coincided with the royal family’s own Christmas lunch at Buckingham Palace, hosted by King Charles. It continues a tradition for George, who has been previously introduced to volunteering through initiatives led by his mother, Princess Kate.
This incident marks a gradual and deliberate exposure of Prince George to public service and royal duties. Earlier in 2023, he accompanied his parents to a lunch honoring World War II veterans and attended a Festival of Remembrance with Princess Kate.

As a longstanding patron of The Passage, William has emphasized the importance of addressing homelessness in his public life. Recent engagements, including a visit to Centrepoint to mark 20 years of his patronage, showcase his ongoing commitment to the issue. He has made strides in public perception of homelessness and its associated challenges, with initiatives like his “Homewards” campaign, which targets homelessness through localized efforts across the UK.
William’s efforts have drawn recognition, including remarks from Centrepoint’s CEO, Seyi Obakin, who noted the prince’s bravery in personally experiencing homelessness to foster a deeper understanding of the issue.
As Prince William continues to model service for his children, the visits to The Passage illustrate a commitment to keeping alive the memory and mission of his mother, Princess Diana, while also preparing George for a future in royal duties.
