Amy Schumer and Chris Fischer Announce Divorce
Comedian Amy Schumer has officially announced her separation from husband Chris Fischer after seven years of marriage. Schumer shared the news on Instagram on December 12, revealing her decision alongside a photo of the couple and their son on a New York City subway.
“Chris and I have made the difficult decision to end our marriage after 7 years,” Schumer wrote. “We love each other very much and will continue to focus on raising our son. We would appreciate people respecting our privacy at this time.” She humorously added that their amicable split is not related to her recent weight loss or Fischer’s status as a renowned chef.
A source close to the couple stated, “There’s nothing ugly. It’s a cohesive split. They’ve just been finalizing a few things.”
The couple first linked romantically in 2017 and married in February 2018. They welcomed their son, Gene, in May 2019. In the weeks leading up to the announcement, speculation regarding their relationship had intensified. A source noted on November 13 that they were "privately working through normal issues that couples in long-term marriages have," while expressing their commitment to each other.
Adding to the speculation, Schumer posted on Instagram in early December, stating, “Fingers crossed we make it through. He’s the best.” In November, she also deleted all previous photos from her Instagram profile, which included those featuring Fischer.
The pair last appeared together at an industry event in June during the 2025 Tribeca Film Festival premiere of the documentary Room To Move.
