Madonna’s ‘I Feel So Free’ Voted This Week’s Top New Music by Fans
Trending on Billboard
“I Feel So Free,” the latest single from Madonna, has emerged as the top choice in this week’s fan-voted new music poll.
On Friday, April 18, listeners participated in a poll published by Billboard, and Madonna’s single was overwhelmingly selected as the favorite new release of the week.
Topping the poll amid a week filled with fresh pop tracks, “I Feel So Free” garnered 40% of the votes, beating out competition from artists such as Olivia Rodrigo, Tyla featuring Zara Larsson, Lana Del Rey, sombr, and others.
The track was debuted on iHeartRadio’s Pride station on Friday before becoming available on streaming platforms, accompanied by an official visualizer. This release followed Madonna’s surprise appearance during Sabrina Carpenter’s Coachella performance, where the two artists sang classics “Vogue” and “Like a Prayer” at the festival in Indio, California.
“I Feel So Free” explores the joy and safety of dancing, featuring lyrics that express a quest for comfort amidst uncertainty: “It’s really hard for me to trust people/ Can you blame me?/ I never know what people like me/ That’s why I like to go dancing/ Safety in numbers.”
This single marks the first release from Madonna’s forthcoming album, Confessions II, a sequel to her acclaimed 2005 album, Confessions on a Dance Floor. The new album is set for release on July 3 via Warner Records.
Following “I Feel So Free” in the poll were Olivia Rodrigo’s “Drop Dead,” which received 31% of the vote, and Tyla featuring Zara Larsson’s “She Did It Again,” collecting nearly 16%. Lana Del Rey’s “First Light” and sombr’s “Potential” also made the top five.
