Miranda Delivers Sharp One-Liners in New Footage from The Devil Wears Prada 2 at CinemaCon
Two decades after their memorable performances as Miranda, Andy, Emily, and Nigel, Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci are set to return to the fashionable avenues of New York City and the polished offices of Runway Magazine in 20th Century Studios’ The Devil Wears Prada 2.
New footage from the highly anticipated sequel was unveiled Thursday during Disney’s CinemaCon presentation in Las Vegas. The film is slated to hit theaters on May 1.
This sequel reunites the original cast, including director David Frankel and writer Aline Brosh McKenna, while also introducing a host of new characters played by Kenneth Branagh, Simone Ashley, Justin Theroux, Lucy Liu, Patrick Brammall, Caleb Hearon, Helen J. Shen, Pauline Chalamet, B.J. Novak, and Conrad Ricamora. Tracie Thoms and Tibor Feldman will reprise their roles as Lily and Irv from the first film.
The original film, adapted from Lauren Weisberger’s 2003 novel, follows the journey of Andy Sachs (Hathaway), a journalism graduate who secures a demanding position as the junior assistant to Miranda Priestly (Streep), the editor-in-chief of Runway, a prestigious fashion magazine.
The upcoming film is expected to explore Miranda’s challenges as the fierce editor-in-chief confronts the declining print industry. A series of trailers have been released, with the latest hinting at a scandal involving Runway magazine. Andy returns as a new features editor, tasked with helping to navigate the escalating crisis.

The newly released footage for CinemaCon attendees showcases Miranda, who remains as sharp as ever, critiquing her staff during an ideas meeting for a failed photo shoot. “The intention was to be dull and listless? … The models were encouraged to mill around like starving goats in the parking lot of a methadone clinic in New Jersey?” she quips.
In response, one staff member hesitantly says, “Well, I wouldn’t say that was the intention.”
Another adds, “You can’t say that!” As shifts in the industry mount, Miranda finds herself in need of reinforcements, prompting the return of Anne Hathaway’s character.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 is produced by Wendy Finerman with Michael Bederman, Karen Rosenfelt, and McKenna serving as executive producers.
