Matthew Lillard Joins the Cast of the New Superman Sequel, Man of Tomorrow
DC Studios remains silent regarding the casting of actor Matthew Lillard in an upcoming film. Details surrounding the character he will portray have not been disclosed.
Lillard will join a star-studded ensemble that features Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Lars Eidinger as Brainiac, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, along with Adria Arjona as Maxima and Aaron Pierre in another role.
The film is currently in production and is scheduled for release on July 9, 2027.

The latest Superman film debuted on July 11, opening to $125 million at the domestic box office. It has made history as the first DC movie to surpass the $300 million threshold at the domestic box office since 2022’s The Batman.
Lillard’s recent work includes a return to the Scream franchise in Scream 7, where he reprises his iconic role as Stu Macher. He has also appeared in the second season of Cross and recently finished filming for the second season of Daredevil: Born Again, which concluded on Disney+.
Looking ahead, he will be featured in A24’s upcoming Carrie series. Lillard is represented by Verve and Strand Entertainment.
