HBO Max Drama Pilot ‘How To Survive Without Me’ Welcomes Scarlett Abinante, Genevieve Angelson, Tommy Dewey, Matthew Kellison, Colette Porch, and Ella Rubin
HBO Max Expands Cast for "How to Survive Without Me" Pilot
HBO Max has announced the addition of six new cast members to its one-hour drama pilot, How to Survive Without Me. Joining the project are Scarlett Abinante (Animal Kingdom), Genevieve Angelson (The Handmaid’s Tale), Tommy Dewey (Running Point), Matthew Kellison (Jimmy Kimmel Live!), Colette Porch (Hal & Harper), and Ella Rubin (Buzzards: A Johnny Cash Story).
Among the newcomers, Abinante, Dewey, Kellison, Porch, and Rubin will serve as series regulars, while Angelson will appear as a guest star. They will join a cast that features previously announced actors Ray Romano, Joshua Jackson, Kaley Cuoco, Julia Schlaepfer, Jack Ball, Kylar Miranda, Julian Grey, and Rita Wilson.
Abinante and Porch will portray fraternal twins Beth and Stephanie, the daughters of Kate (Cuoco) and Dan (Dewey). Both characters are described as highly intelligent but rebellious, which poses challenges for their parents.
Dewey’s character, Dan, is depicted as a kind and creative painter who strives to maintain harmony while supporting his assertive wife, Kate. He often finds himself vying for her attention alongside her family.
Angelson’s character, Molly, embodies a wealthy and demanding personality known to intimidate others, particularly teachers. As one of Kate’s regular design clients, her quick judgments and lack of patience make her a formidable presence.
Kellison takes on the role of Bennett, a high-energy child whose antics often leave his parents, Cary (Ball) and Luis (Miranda), exhausted. In contrast, Rubin will portray Dottie, the quieter and innocent younger sibling, who adds comedic moments with her unexpected observations.
How to Survive Without Me centers on the De Angelis family as they navigate life following matriarch Beverly’s (Wilson) passing. The family struggles to stay connected without her guidance while trying to carry on her legacy from beyond the grave.
The pilot is a collaborative effort from Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television, with a script penned by Greg Berlanti and Bash Doran, based on a story by Berlanti, Doran, and Robbie Rogers. Sarah Schechter, Leigh London Redman, and Rogers will serve as executive producers.
The cast members are represented by various agencies, ensuring a strong lineup for this anticipated series.
