Maitreyi Ramakrishnan from ‘Never Have I Ever’ Joins the Cast of ‘Elle’ Season 2
Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, best known for her role in Never Have I Ever, is set to join the recurring cast of the second season of the Legally Blonde prequel series, Elle, which will be available on Prime Video.
Elle centers on Elle Woods, portrayed by Lexi Minetree, during her high school years, exploring the formative experiences that transformed her into the beloved character from the original Legally Blonde film.
Ramakrishnan will take on the role of Sam, a character who serves as a foil to Elle. Ambitious yet lacking optimism, Sam is the founder and editor-in-chief of the school newspaper, a strict enforcer of grammar rules, and a figure resistant to joy. While Elle seeks inspiration from Cosmo, Sam reveres The AP Stylebook.
The first season of Elle is set to premiere on July 1st and features June Diane Raphael as Elle’s mother, Eva, and Tom Everett Scott as her father, Wyatt. The cast also includes Gabrielle Policano, Jacob Moskovitz, Chandler Kinney, and Zac Looker, with recurring roles played by Jessica Belkin, Logan Shroyer, Amy Pietz, Matt Ober, Chloe Wepper, David Burtka, Brad Harder, Kayla Maisonet, and Lisa Yamada.
James Van Der Beek will appear in a recurring role as Dean Wilson, a mayoral candidate and the current superintendent of the school district, in what is one of his final performances prior to his passing earlier this month.
Elle is created by Laura Kittrell, known for her work on High School and Insecure, and is co-showrun and produced alongside Caroline Dries. Executive producers for the series include Reese Witherspoon, Lauren Neustadter, Marc Platt, and Amanda Brown.
Ramakrishnan is represented by CAA, Premier Artists Management, and Felker Toczek Suddleson.
