Laura Dern opened up about her parents Bruce Dern and Diane Ladd one month after the death of her mother, who passed away on November 3 at the age of 89.
In an interview with the Los Angeles Times published on December 10, Dern, 58, reflected on her mother’s death while promoting her new films Is This Thing On? and Jay Kelly.
“I thought, ‘This is going to be hard because I’m going to have to talk about my parents,’” she said, contemplating the challenges of continuing with promotional activities. “Then I thought, ‘They are my muses, my guides, my teachers. Diane Ladd, known for her roles in Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore, Wild at Heart, and Rambling Rose, shared the screen with Laura starting in 1974 when Laura made an appearance as an extra in Ladd’s film. Together, they starred in several notable productions, including Citizen Ruth.
In 2023, Laura and Ladd collaborated on the memoir Honey, Baby, Mine: A Mother and Daughter Talk Life, Death, Love (and Banana Pudding).
