Lamar Odom Arrested for DUI in Las Vegas
Lamar Odom, the former NBA star, was arrested early Saturday morning in Las Vegas and faces charges of driving under the influence (DUI) along with two related traffic violations. Court records indicate that Odom, 46, was detained on January 17.
The arrest took place after law enforcement reportedly observed Odom driving over 41 miles per hour above the speed limit and failing to maintain his lane. TMZ was the first to report that he remained in custody as of noon local time.

Odom’s legal troubles are not new; he was arrested for DUI in California back in 2013. Following that incident, he checked into a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center, a move confirmed by sources at the time. His previous DUI led to a plea agreement, requiring him to serve three years of probation, attend a three-month alcohol education program, and pay fines totaling $1,800.
In his 2019 memoir, Darkness to Light, Odom opened up about his battle with substance abuse, including a near-fatal overdose in 2015. He revealed shocking details, stating, “My heart stopped twice. I had twelve seizures and six strokes. My lungs collapsed and my kidneys ruptured. I was on life support.” Odom spent several months hospitalized, eventually transferring to a facility in Los Angeles where he remained until January 2016.
Reflecting on his overdose, he wrote, “It made me realize I couldn’t live the way I’d been living,” expressing a commitment to sobriety following his recovery.
Odom, who was previously married to Khloé Kardashian, has children Lamar Jr. and Destiny with ex-partner Liza Morales. He also had a son, Jayden, who tragically passed away at six months old in 2006 due to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).
He is scheduled to appear in court in Nevada on March 17.
