Kelly Clarkson to Conclude Daytime Talk Show
Kelly Clarkson announced on February 2 that the current season of The Kelly Clarkson Show will be its last, wrapping up a successful run of seven seasons on NBC. A source close to Clarkson revealed that she is eager for a change in pace.
“This decision comes after years of an intense daily schedule, and she’s excited to have more flexibility to spend time with her children,” the source shared. “This change allows her to be more present at home while still engaging in the creative projects she loves.”
Clarkson conveyed her sentiments in a heartfelt statement about her tenure hosting the show and praised her team. “I have been extremely fortunate to work with such an outstanding group of people at ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show,’ both in Los Angeles and New York," she noted. “There have been so many amazing moments and shows over these seven seasons. I am forever grateful to have worked alongside the greatest band and crew you could hope for, along with the talent and inspiring people who have shared their time and lives with us. I am also deeply thankful to our fans and NBC for being such supportive partners."
The singer highlighted that this transition would allow her to prioritize her two children, daughter River, 11, and son Remington "Remy," 9, whom she shares with her late ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock. “This was not an easy decision, but this season will be my last hosting The Kelly Clarkson Show,” she added. “Stepping away from the daily schedule will allow me to focus more on my kids, which feels necessary and right for this next chapter of our lives.”
Clarkson filed for divorce from Blackstock in June 2020 after nearly seven years of marriage, leading to a drawn-out legal battle over spousal support, custody, and property. In November 2020, she secured primary custody of their children. The couple finalized their divorce in March 2022.
In the summer of 2023, Clarkson and her children moved from Los Angeles to New York in preparation for the fifth season of her show.
The decision to conclude The Kelly Clarkson Show marks a significant milestone in Clarkson’s career, providing her the opportunity to balance her professional aspirations with family commitments.
