Kate Hudson Honored as Showperson of the Year by ICG Publicists
The International Cinematographers Guild (ICG) announced on Tuesday that Academy Award nominee Kate Hudson will receive the 2026 Motion Picture Showperson of the Year Award.
Hudson, known for her roles in Song Sung Blue and Almost Famous, will be honored at the upcoming ICG Publicists Awards next month. This annual event celebrates innovation in filmmaking and recognizes individuals who embody the spirit of showmanship. Notably, Hudson’s mother, Goldie Hawn, received the same accolade in 1981.
In Song Sung Blue, Hudson portrays Claire Stengl, who collaborates with musician Mike Sardina, played by Hugh Jackman, to form a Neil Diamond tribute band. Their journey unfolds as they navigate love and ambition, with the film written and directed by Craig Brewer.
In addition to her Best Actress nomination at the Academy Awards, Hudson is also nominated for a BAFTA Film Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award. She was previously a Golden Globe nominee for her role and has received the Icon Award from the Palm Springs Film Festival this year. Furthermore, she will be honored with the Spotlight Award from the Costume Designers Guild later this month. Song Sung Blue premiered at the AFI Fest and has grossed over $54.6 million worldwide since its release on Christmas Day.
Since gaining fame as Penny Lane in Cameron Crowe’s 2000 film Almost Famous, Hudson has appeared in numerous films, including Shell, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, Nine, and How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days. Recently, she starred in Netflix’s basketball-themed series Running Point, which has been renewed for a second season, and has made guest appearances on Truth Be Told and Glee.
The 63rd ICG Publicists Awards will take place on Friday, March 13, at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel.
