Actor Jonathan Bennett Joins General Hospital as Joe Fitzpatrick
Jonathan Bennett is set to make his mark on ABC’s hit soap opera General Hospital, stepping into the role of Joe Fitzpatrick starting in May. The announcement was made in an exclusive update that highlights Bennett’s transition into the iconic series.
Best recognized for his portrayal of Aaron Samuels in the 2004 teen classic Mean Girls, Bennett’s career has since expanded into impressive ventures, including a recent dream role on Broadway in the acclaimed musical Spamalot.
“We’re so excited to have Jonathan joining our cast,” said Frank Valentini, the Executive Producer of General Hospital. “He’s a tremendous talent and will be a fantastic addition to GH.”
Bennett’s return to daytime television marks a full-circle moment for him, as he began his career on the soap opera All My Children, where he played the character JR Chandler from 2001 to 2002.
Outside of his acting roles, Bennett is also a familiar face on the Food Network, where he hosts Halloween Wars. His extensive work with Hallmark includes credits in the Groomsmen film trilogy and hosting their first-ever unscripted competition series, Finding Mr. Christmas. Recently, he also appeared in A Keller Christmas Vacation.
Known affectionately as “The Gay King of Christmas,” Bennett has made significant contributions to Hallmark films, notably serving as executive producer and starring in the network’s first gay-led romantic comedy, The Holiday Sitter. He has also featured in several popular holiday movies, including the Christmas House and Cherry Lane franchises.
In addition to his extensive filmography, Bennett has taken on memorable roles such as Van Wilder in National Lampoon’s Van Wilder: Freshman Year and Steve Martin’s son-in-law in Cheaper By the Dozen 2. He has also appeared in several beloved television series, including Dr. Odyssey, Station 19, Law & Order: SVU, and Fantasy Island.
