Man Faces Felony Charges in Kidnapping Case Involving 3-Year-Old Boy from Amber Alert
Man Charged in Connection with Amber Alert for Missing Child
A 38-year-old man has been charged following an Amber Alert issued for a missing 3-year-old boy in Los Angeles, who was later located safely at a hotel in Gardena.
Joshua Pendleton faces charges of kidnapping related to carjacking and carjacking itself, both categorized as felonies. Jail records indicate that no initial court date has been set for Pendleton.
Pendleton and the child were reported missing on Tuesday morning, prompting an Amber Alert that spanned several counties in Southern California. The California Highway Patrol, acting on behalf of the Los Angeles Police Department, revealed that Pendleton, identified as the ex-boyfriend of the child’s mother, was last seen with the boy around 10 p.m. Monday at the intersection of 66th Street and Normandy Avenue. The alert specifically covered Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, and San Bernardino counties.
According to authorities, both Pendleton and the child were located on Tuesday morning at a Gardena hotel. Information regarding how law enforcement narrowed down on the hotel is still unavailable.
"The child was found safe and uninjured and is being reunited with family," stated the LAPD.
In connection with the Amber Alert, law enforcement released images of Pendleton, the child, and the SUV involved in the case.
