The Jonas Brothers are inviting fans behind the scenes of their new holiday movie, “A Very Jonas Christmas,” which premiered on November 14 on Disney+. The trio recently featured on the cover of PEOPLE’s Best of 2025 issue, where they discussed their filmmaking experience.
In this fictional narrative, the brothers embody realistic versions of themselves, with Joe describing the project as a “bucket list item.” Collaborating with seasoned writers Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger, known for their work on acclaimed series such as “This Is Us” and “How I Met Your Father,” the Jonas Brothers sought to achieve a balance between authenticity and privacy in their storytelling.

“We had individual sessions but also conducted a brainstorming session to provide a genuine insight into our lives,” Nick shared during the October cover shoot. “While we wanted to keep some elements private, our goal was to infuse the film with authenticity.”
The writing team quickly grasped the dynamics between the brothers. “When we reviewed the first draft of the script, we felt it reflected our real-life relationships,” Nick explained. “We then refined it further to enhance its true essence.”
The film sees the brothers exaggerate their own characteristics: Nick portrays the “uptight, responsible one,” Joe is the “lovable tramp” known for creating romantic connections, and Kevin assumes the role of “the one who still lives in New Jersey.”
Despite the humorous portrayal, the brothers asserted they exercised creative control during production. “We absolutely vetoed a few things,” Joe confirmed, with Kevin adding, “That dynamic made for a fun atmosphere on set.”

In addition to “A Very Jonas Christmas,” the brothers paused their JONAS20 tour to film “Camp Rock 3,” a sequel 15 years after the release of the second film.
“It was surreal,” Kevin recounted, reflecting on their characters. “Arriving on set and seeing cast members from the original films on the iconic Camp Rock stage was a nostalgic experience. We are thankful those movies happened.”
Regarding their fictional band Connect 3, the brothers are still uncertain about their characters’ brotherly ties. “We never really established if Connect 3 are brothers or not,” Nick said with a laugh. “There are hints, but it’s ambiguous,” Kevin concluded, stating, “The lore is real.”
