Goldie Hawn and Kate Hudson Share Their Thoughts on Working Together in a Movie: “Never Say Never”
Goldie Hawn is contemplating a return to acting, marking her first role in six years, which may also feature a family reunion on screen.
The Oscar-winning actress recently revealed that her daughter, Kate Hudson, has suggested the idea of co-writing a script for both of them to star in. Hawn expressed that such a project would be “lots of fun,” especially if it included her partner, Kurt Russell, and their sons, Oliver Hudson and Wyatt Russell.
“I would love that,” Hawn told People regarding Kate’s proposal. “And the two of us have thought a lot about it.”
While Hawn acknowledged the challenges of such a project, she cast some hope on the idea, stating, “We’re never going to do it, but it’s such a great idea because we have so much talent. Never say never, because that could happen at any time.”
Though Hawn has not yet shared the screen with her daughter, she and Russell met on the set of the 1968 Disney musical Western The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band, 15 years before they began their romantic relationship. The couple has since appeared together in Swing Shift (1984), Overboard (1987), The Christmas Chronicles (2018), and The Christmas Chronicles: Part Two (2020), the latter two featuring Oliver Hudson.

While exploring her potential return, Hawn emphasized the importance of quality projects. “It’s about the content. It has to do with the content,” she stated, explaining her selective approach toward available scripts. “I’ve read a lot of shows, a lot of scripts that I didn’t like or I didn’t think I’d fit.”
Hawn expressed her desire for engaging material, saying, “I would love to get material that could actually be like, ‘Oh my God, I want this so bad. This is so funny. She’s so crazy. She’s so interesting.’ But I haven’t come across it.”
“I think it would be great if somebody came up with a really cool, funny script,” she added, suggesting her openness to the right opportunity.
Hawn’s acting career began with her onscreen debut in the 1967-’68 CBS sitcom Good Morning World. She has since gained recognition from her role on Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In and various films, including Cactus Flower (1969), Shampoo (1975), Private Benjamin (1980), Death Becomes Her (1992), The First Wives Club (1996), and The Banger Sisters (2002).
