Patricia Arquette’s journey as an actress has been significantly shaped by her two children, Enzo Rossi and Harlow Jane. Enzo, born in 1989, is the son of Arquette and her former partner, Argentinian musician Paul Rossi. The couple separated amicably when Enzo was just one month old.
During the lengthy filming of Boyhood, which spanned over 12 years, Arquette welcomed her daughter Harlow in 2003 with actor Thomas Jane. The couple married in 2006 but went through a tumultuous relationship, splitting and reconciling before finally parting ways in 2010.
Harlow has already begun to carve out her own path in the entertainment industry, taking part in various projects including Apple TV+’s High Desert, where she portrayed a younger version of her mother’s character, and the thriller Dig alongside her father. However, she expressed that becoming an actress wasn’t initially her aspiration.
“I did not want to become another actor,” Harlow shared in a 2023 interview. “But I couldn’t help but secretly love it.”
For Arquette, while she has portrayed numerous roles throughout her career, she considers her most vital role to be that of a mother.
“The healthy order of things is your children have the most needs, especially when they’re little, and you’re supposed to deal with their needs. It’s not about you,” Arquette reflected in a 2024 interview. “But as you get older, yes, you kind of push them a little more to stand on their own.”

On January 3, 1989, Enzo was welcomed into the world in Los Angeles. Arquette and Rossi amicably parted ways shortly after his birth but maintained a close relationship. Reflecting on her past, Arquette noted, “We were wrong for each other…but when I got pregnant, I knew this person needed to be born.”
The Severance star has stated that during Enzo’s childhood, they rarely spent significant time apart. Arquette cherished moments with him, even wearing a ring featuring his birthstone at the premiere of her film True Romance.
“I’m not a great disciplinarian. But luckily, Enzo didn’t really need that. I just talked him through things,” Arquette said in a 2005 interview.
Becoming a mother at a young age influenced Arquette’s career choices, pushing her to pursue audition opportunities more fiercely. “The pressure lit such a fire under my a–: ‘I have to make money. I have to succeed. I have to provide for somebody,’” she explained in a 2022 interview.
Enzo has made appearances in several of his mother’s films, including The Indian Runner and True Romance, and he starred in an episode of Medium that Arquette directed.

As Enzo transitioned to college, Arquette experienced a poignant moment while filming Boyhood, where her character grapples with sending her child off into independence.
“I felt very similar to that [character],” she recalled, noting the mixed emotions that accompanied such a significant life change.
Enzo has made sporadic red carpet appearances with Arquette over the years, and the duo is working together on Fantom Flower, a vegan cannabis lounge in West Hollywood, which began construction in 2022.

Harlow Olivia Calliope Jane was born at home in Los Angeles on February 20, 2003. She is the only child of Arquette and her ex-husband, Thomas Jane. The couple met through mutual friends in 2001 and were married in Italy five years later. Their relationship faced challenges, leading to an initial divorce filing in 2009, which Arquette later withdrew. They ultimately separated for good in August 2010.
As a teenager, Harlow attended a “very arts-heavy boarding school,” where she discovered her passion for acting. However, she originally resisted the idea of following her parents into the industry.
“I definitely rebelled against it for as long as I could,” she admitted, recalling a time when she told a career adviser she wanted to be a lawyer.
Harlow has appeared in the 2015 miniseries Texas Rising, the film I Love Us in 2021, and She Came to Me in 2023. She considers her role in Dig—a 2022 action thriller with her father—as her “first real job” in acting.
“I love my mom, and I just felt like I knew what her face would look like in this moment of screaming at someone,” she explained in 2023 while reflecting on her experience portraying a younger version of Arquette’s character in High Desert.

Harlow has accompanied her mother on numerous red carpets, including high-profile events like the Oscars and Golden Globe Awards. Despite her proximity to the industry, she revealed in a 2024 interview that she rarely watches Arquette’s films, stating, “The magic of it isn’t there because she’s just always been Mom.”
“I don’t ever want you to see me as anything other than your mom, honestly,” Arquette responded, emphasizing her desire to maintain their personal relationship over public perception.
Harlow feels fortunate to have been raised in a creative environment, noting, “I think people who are artists and creative, we’re pretty prone to our big emotions… I’m lucky to have grown up around so much art and creativity.”
