Emilia Clarke Opens Up About Injuring Herself While Filming Intimate Scenes in ‘PONIES’
Emilia Clarke’s Grueling Role in ‘PONIES’ Results in Injury
In a candid revelation, Emilia Clarke discussed the physical challenges she faced while filming her latest role in the Peacock series PONIES. The Emmy-nominated actress shared that she sustained an injury during particularly intimate scenes, resulting in a fractured rib.
Clarke portrays Bea, a Cold War-era widow who discreetly seduces high-level KGB agents to extract vital information. Speaking to The Wrap, she described her experience, saying, “Three men, in a number of hours… Just keep bringing it — I’m going to sit on this thing, you’re going to bring them in, we’re going to pretend to have sex. I broke a rib that day.”
Her co-star, Haley Lu Richardson, who plays fellow CIA widow Twila, corroborated Clarke’s account, noting, “She really did. She’s such a tiny little sensitive body meant she broke a rib.”
Reflecting on her medical visit, Clarke humorously recounted telling her doctor, “It was from ‘sex, times three!’”
Clarifying further, Clarke said, “It didn’t like, fully break. It just popped out a little bit.”
In the series, now streaming on Peacock, Clarke and Richardson’s characters work as secretaries at the U.S. embassy in Moscow in 1977, later going undercover as CIA operatives after their husbands die under mysterious circumstances.
