Former Child Star Hillary Wolf Saba Celebrates Iconic Role in Home Alone
Former child actress Hillary Wolf Saba is relishing the nostalgic memories of her role in the beloved film Home Alone. The actress recently shared a playful video on social media platforms Instagram and TikTok, where she can be seen enjoying a pint of ice cream while Home Alone plays in the background.
As the camera shifts to the TV screen, viewers catch a glimpse of Wolf Saba, who portrayed Megan McCallister, Kevin’s sister, in the classic 1990 film. The video’s text humorously notes, "When you’re 13, you’ll get the opportunity to be in the most iconic Christmas movie of all time. It’s very important that you do it."
Set to Fleetwood Mac’s "Silver Springs," the video aligns with a social media trend encapsulating significant life moments. The caption accompanying the post reads, "VERY important. Merry Christmas ya filthy animals."

Now 48, Saba also reprised her role in the 1992 sequel Home Alone 2: Lost in New York and appeared in various other projects, including the film Big Girls Don’t Cry… They Get Even.
In a 2021 essay for Newsweek, Saba reflected on her time on set, recalling it as a "very fun environment." She described her interactions with co-star Catherine O’Hara, noting, "She was funny, great with kids, and just a wonderful person." The fond memories extended to her time filming scenes at O’Hare Airport, which she enjoyed due to O’Hara’s presence.
Saba remembered co-star Macaulay Culkin as "a typical little boy having fun," whose personality shone throughout the filming process. She reminisced about casual excursions with him, such as visiting Navy Pier and lip-syncing to music videos.
She recounted a surreal experience when Michael Jackson, whom they mistook for a lookalike, approached the set during filming in Chicago. "The whole situation was surreal and weird," she remarked, adding that Jackson was an exceptional figure among celebrities.
After stepping away from acting in 1992, Saba pivoted to athletics, achieving success in judo. She won the 1994 World Junior Judo Championships in her weight class and eventually became a member of the U.S. Olympic team in 2000, competing in the Atlanta and Sydney Games.
Reflecting on her dual careers, Saba stated that leaving athletics was more challenging than departing from acting, admitting she had kept her acting past private. “I never wanted anyone to think that I considered myself really cool because I was in those movies,” she shared, indicating that she perhaps did not fully embrace the joy of being part of the Home Alone legacy.
