Keira Knightley, Alicia Vikander, and Jamie Dornan Star in New Dark Comedy ‘The Worst’
Keira Knightley, Alicia Vikander, and Jamie Dornan are set to headline the upcoming dark comedy The Worst. The film is poised to attract attention as Protagonist Pictures and Logical Pictures International prepare to commence world sales at the forthcoming European Film Market.
Simon Woods, known for Hansard, is both writing and directing the project. The production team includes Andy Berg and John Sachs of Eclipse Films, along with Josh Hyams from Promise Pictures. Executive producers are Frédéric Fiore, Ryan Wickers, and Andrei Kamarowsky for Logical Pictures Group, accompanied by Dave Bishop, James Pugh, and George Hamilton for Protagonist. Erin Kellyman is also part of the cast.
The film’s financing is provided by Logical Content Venture, while domestic rights will be co-represented by UTA Independent Film Group.
The Worst follows socialite Emily Fisher, played by Vikander, and her husband Max as they host a lavish soirée at their new chateau in France. Guests include Holly (Knightley), a beleaguered diversity consultant who struggles to connect with the other attendees, and Danny (Dornan), a fast-talking talent agent. As the night progresses, tensions flare and hidden truths emerge, thrusting waitress Niamh (Kellyman) into the ensuing turmoil.
"I want audiences to have a great time watching The Worst—to be drawn in by these vivid, over-the-top comic characters, their messy, uncomfortable relationships, and the squirm of it all," Woods commented. He expressed his desire for the film to challenge viewers’ perceptions, noting, "We’re building a film full of twists and turns, and there’s no better dream ensemble than this one to deliver every unexpected beat."
