Dakota Fanning Takes the Lead in New Thriller Series Coming to Apple TV from Alex Cary and Sony Pictures TV
EXCLUSIVE: Apple TV has ordered a new thriller series starring and executive produced by Dakota Fanning, known for her recent work in All Her Fault.
The untitled project, created by Alex Cary from Homeland, was secured by Apple TV in a competitive bidding situation last year. Following the establishment of a writers’ room, the streaming service has now greenlit the series.
Fanning will portray an undercover Treasury agent embedded within a multibillion-dollar international conglomerate. Her character grapples with a complex mission intertwined with world-altering political and criminal influences, ultimately facing a moral dilemma between her duty and a burgeoning affection for her primary target, the heir to the corrupt power structure.
Cary will serve as the showrunner and executive producer under his overall deal with Sony Pictures Television, which is producing the series. Julie Gardner from Bad Wolf America will also join as an executive producer, alongside Fanning, Elle Fanning, and Brittany Kahan Ward from Lewellen Pictures. Kari Skogland will executive produce and direct the series.

Fanning recently starred opposite Sarah Snook in the acclaimed Peacock limited series All Her Fault. She is also set to lead two upcoming Netflix limited series, Ripley and The Perfect Couple. Additionally, she is executive producing the forthcoming Apple TV series Margo’s Got Money Troubles, which stars and is produced by Elle Fanning. Fanning is represented by UTA, TFC Management, and Hansen Jacobson Teller.
Cary, who served as both co-executive producer and then executive producer on Homeland, contributed to the series’ Outstanding Drama Series Emmy win in 2012. At Sony Television, he crafted and executive produced the Cold War thriller limited series A Spy Among Friends, featuring Guy Pearce and Damian Lewis, which aired on MGM+ in the U.S. Cary is represented by WME.
