Scott Cooper Joins Forces with 20th Century Studios and Gotham Group for a Thrilling Roswell Story in Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere
EXCLUSIVE: Following the success of Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere, 20th Century Studios is collaborating once more with writer-director Scott Cooper and producers Eric Robinson and Ellen Goldsmith-Vein from Gotham Group on a new film project.
The recently closed deal highlights Cooper’s upcoming thriller, reportedly inspired by the Roswell, New Mexico sci-fi story. This narrative revolves around a rancher who discovers debris on his property, prompting government silence amid rising conspiracy theories about a UFO incident.
Deliver Me From Nowhere marked a significant milestone, as it was the first time Bruce Springsteen and his manager Jon Landau allowed the singer-songwriter’s life to be depicted in a narrative format. The film featured Jeremy Allen White as Springsteen and Jeremy Strong as Landau, focusing on a challenging period of the artist’s life, including battles with depression and childhood PTSD while creating the acclaimed 1982 album Nebraska. Despite the pressure of his growing fame after hits like Born to Run, Darkness on the Edge of Town, and The River, Springsteen sought help for his mental health, eventually leading to his global success with Born in the USA. With Springsteen and Landau’s support, the film debuted at last year’s Telluride festival, receiving positive reviews and grossing $45 million worldwide since its release in October.
As Cooper embarks on this new project, he is also considering Commanche, an Eric Roth script that has been in development with Michael Mann for several years. Cooper is represented by CAA and Jackoway Tyerman.
