Director Michael Angelo Covino Joins Netflix for New Comedy ‘Last Fix’
Michael Angelo Covino to Direct New Netflix Comedy ‘The Last Fix’
Michael Angelo Covino, fresh off the success of his acclaimed comedy Splitsville, is set to direct the Netflix film The Last Fix. The project, scripted by Chuck MacLean, was quickly secured by Netflix executives who were impressed by the original spec script. Sources indicate that the film is currently in the early stages of development.
While specific plot details remain under wraps, The Last Fix is described as a heartfelt comedy centered around a Boston political fixer who learns he has only six months to live. Covino’s production company, Watch This Ready, alongside producers Emily Korteweg, Covino, and Kyle Marvin, is at the helm of the project.
This film marks a continued collaboration between Covino, Marvin, and Watch This Ready, the team behind the 2025 Cannes Film Festival premiere The Climb. The film garnered an eight-minute standing ovation and received critical acclaim for its clever screenplay, physical comedy, and impressive stunt sequences.
Directed by Covino, Splitsville aims to build on the kinetic, long-take style established in The Climb, which was highlighted by its elaborate single-take stunt scenes, including a segment noted as "the fight scene of the year."
Covino is represented by WME and Canopy Media, while MacLean is also represented by WME.
