Cypress Park School Goes on Lockdown Following Gunman Report
Cypress Park Middle School Placed on Lockdown Amid Police Response
A middle school in the Cypress Park neighborhood of Los Angeles was placed on lockdown Thursday following a report of a possible gunman on campus. Authorities received a call indicating there might be an armed suspect at Florence Nightingale Middle School, located on Figueroa Street.
In response to the situation, the Los Angeles Police Department established containment lines around the school, preventing entry or exit from the property. As of Thursday afternoon, school officials confirmed that all students and staff were safe but could not specify when students would be released.
Parents were informed of the situation through calls from the school principal, according to officials. The investigation is being supported by officers from the Los Angeles Unified School District Police Department, in conjunction with the LAPD.
No injuries have been reported at this time.
