Connor Storrie Joins SNL to Introduce Olivia Rodrigo’s Double Duty Hosting and Unveiling New Music
After Debbie Harry of Blondie introduced Olivia Rodrigo on Saturday Night Live, Connor Storrie made a surprise appearance to introduce the singer’s second performance—a yet-to-be-released track. This marked Rodrigo’s first lead role on the iconic show, where she showcased her talent with a double-header performance.
Rodrigo’s new song is expected to feature on her forthcoming album, you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love, set to be released on June 12. In contrast to the vibrant, confrontational energy of her latest single, "drop dead," the unreleased track presented a more subdued and introspective tone.
“I could never leave / so I’m patiently learning / pretend it’s not hurting,” Rodrigo sang, providing a glimpse into the emotional depth of her upcoming work. Other poignant lyrics included, “‘Cause they say it’s a virtue / to not let good love slip away.”
Connor Storrie, who recently hosted SNL earlier this year, brought an element of familiarity to the stage. During his own debut, he featured an array of surprise guests, including members of the U.S. Olympic hockey teams and his co-star Hudson Williams.
Although Rodrigo has previously appeared as a musical guest on SNL—once in 2021 alongside host Keegan-Michael Key and again in 2023 with Adam Driver—this was her first opportunity to take center stage.
In addition to Rodrigo’s performances, the episode included more star power. Harry revealed Rodrigo’s initial song while Aziz Ansari made a memorable appearance in the Cold Open, portraying FBI Director Kash Patel.
As anticipation builds for her third studio album, Rodrigo released the lead single "drop dead" just two weeks ago, accompanied by a visually striking music video directed by Petra Collins at the Louvre.
