Community Mourns the Loss of Victorville Teen Shot Near School
Friends and family of 14-year-old Jeremy “Tank” Rosales gathered in Victorville on Monday to honor the life of the young boy who was tragically shot and killed last week.
According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department (SBSD), Rosales was fatally shot near a local school and park on Friday evening. Deputies responded to reports of gunfire at the intersection of Burwood Avenue and Glen Canyon Lane around 8:21 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered Rosales suffering from gunshot wounds. He was swiftly transported to a nearby hospital but succumbed to his injuries.
In remembrance of Rosales, loved ones held a candlelight vigil on Monday, complemented by a balloon release. Described as a loyal teammate and an enthusiastic football player, he had a profound impact on those close to him.
“He was the sweetest kid with a big smile,” said one woman at the vigil. “He was like my nephew; I had him every weekend.”
Gavin Hernandez, one of Rosales’ friends, echoed those sentiments. “Sweet guy,” he remarked. “Just a big teddy bear, man. Wouldn’t do anything to hurt anybody.”
SBSD confirmed that the investigation remains ongoing, with no arrests made thus far in connection to the shooting. Authorities encourage anyone with information related to the case to reach out to the department’s homicide unit at 909-890-4904.
