CBS Confirms Seasons 3 and 4 for ‘Beyond The Gates’
CBS has confirmed that its popular daytime drama, Beyond the Gates, has been renewed for two additional seasons, ensuring its continuation through the 2027-28 season. This announcement highlights the network’s confidence in the show as it enters its second season.
Amy Reisenbach, the head of CBS Entertainment, expressed enthusiasm for the series during a press briefing on Wednesday. “Beyond the Gates immediately improved the time period, has enthusiastically been embraced by the daytime community, and is getting good critical acclaim in the press,” she stated.
While CBS did not disclose specific viewership statistics, the show has made a strong debut. In its first week, the premiere episode of Beyond the Gates, which is the first new soap opera to launch since Passions in 1999, attracted 2.28 million viewers in L+3 ratings, marking a substantial 78 percent increase compared to the previous year’s numbers for The Talk.
The series has also found a receptive audience on streaming platforms. CBS revealed that L+3 streaming figures showed a 13.6 percent increase over the show’s linear audience, outperforming The Young and the Restless (10.9%) and The Bold and the Beautiful (12.6%), which are also among the network’s strongest daytime offerings. This support complements CBS’s lineup, which features established hits like The Price is Right and Let’s Make A Deal.
Set in an affluent suburban community just outside Washington, D.C., Beyond the Gates focuses on the Dupree family, a prestigious multi-generational household emblematic of Black royalty in the United States. Beneath the surface of luxury, the show explores the secrets and scandals that intertwine the lives of its characters, showcasing the dynamics between those who have achieved success and those still seeking their place in the world.
Created by head writer Michele Val Jean, the series boasts a team of executive producers that includes Val Jean, Sheila Ducksworth, Julie Carruthers, Tracey Thomson, Leon W. Russell, Derrick Johnson, Anna Saalfeld, and Lela Coffey.
