In the opening round of the Southern Section Boys Volleyball playoffs on Tuesday, numerous matches highlighted intense competition across various divisions.
First Round Results
Division 2:
- Orange Lutheran defeated Beckman, 3-1.
- Fountain Valley triumphed over Hillcrest, 3-1.
- San Clemente narrowly bested San Juan Hills, 3-2.

Upcoming Matches
Looking ahead, second-round matches will continue on Wednesday at 6 p.m. in several divisions. Key matchups include Los Alamitos at Tesoro and Mater Dei at Corona del Mar in Division 1.
Key Schedule:
- Division 1: Mira Costa has a bye, while several teams will face off including Millikan at Newport Harbor and Santa Margarita at San Marcos.
- Division 2: Anaheim Canyon will compete against Camarillo.
- Division 3: Highlights include Corona Centennial at Palos Verdes and Malibu at Sage Hill, among numerous others.
The tournament format will see second-round matches for Divisions 4, 6, and 8 on April 30, while Divisions 3, 5, 7, and 9 will follow on May 1. Quarterfinals for Divisions 1 and 2 are set for May 5, while the remaining divisions will compete in semifinals on May 9, culminating with finals on May 15-16.
