Man Stabbed with Sword in Venice; Police Search for Suspect
A stabbing incident in Venice on Thursday evening has left one man hospitalized, while authorities search for the suspect involved. Police confirmed that the attack occurred around 6:30 p.m., with Justin Tucker, 29, identified as the assailant wielding a 16-inch sword-type knife.
The victim was promptly taken to a local hospital, though details regarding his condition remain unavailable.
Residents of a nearby building in the 700 block of Rose Avenue received flyers alerting them to Tucker’s identity and warning that he is considered armed and dangerous. The building is associated with Venice Community Housing, a provider of supportive, transitional housing.
In light of the incident, a representative from Councilmember Traci Park’s office commented on ongoing tensions between the community and Venice Community Housing, particularly regarding responses to encampment issues in the area.
Venice Community Housing issued a statement acknowledging the stabbing and emphasizing its commitment to resident safety.
One resident, who wished to remain anonymous, expressed her concerns about safety within the building. "I’ve had multiple incidents over here with neighbors acting out of impulses and threatening me and stuff," she shared, underscoring her desire to find a safer living environment.
