Apple TV Reveals First Look at Season 5 of "Trying" with New Cast Additions
Apple TV has released a first look at the upcoming fifth season of its longest-running sitcom, Trying, featuring acclaimed actress Celia Imrie in a new role. The season is set to premiere with weekly episodes beginning July 8.
In the latest installment, the central characters Nikki (Esther Smith) and Jason (Rafe Spall) confront unexpected challenges following the arrival of Princess (Scarlett Rayner) and Tyler’s (Cooper Turner) biological mother, Kat (Charlotte Riley). Her entrance marks a significant shift in their previously settled family dynamic, bringing with it a whirlwind of chaos.
Joining Imrie in the cast this season are Gbemisola Ikumelo, known for The Paper, and Colin Morgan from Belfast. They add their talents to an ensemble that includes Darren Boyd (Down Cemetery Road), Siân Brooke (Blue Lights), and Phil Davis (Vera Drake).
Trying has recently gained attention after being acquired by the BBC in a landmark deal, showcasing the series’ growing popularity beyond its original platform. The show is created and written by Andy Wolton, who serves as executive producer alongside Smith, Spall, Chris Sussman, Josh Cole, and Sam Pinnell. Production is handled by BBC Studios.
