Kerry Godliman and Nina Singh Star in a Fresh Take on the Classic Detective Series ‘Dalziel & Pascoe’ for BritBox and ITV
Kerry Godliman and Nina Singh to Star in ITV and BritBox’s Reboot of Dalziel and Pascoe
Kerry Godliman, known for her role in After Life, and Nina Singh from Virdee have been announced as the lead detectives in the upcoming reboot of Dalziel and Pascoe, produced by BritBox and ITV.
In a fresh take on the series, Godliman and Singh will portray female detectives, taking over from Warren Clarke and Colin Buchanan, who starred in the original series. The new iteration focuses on the dynamic between seasoned Detective Inspector Andrea Dalziel, played by Godliman, and the meticulous, newly qualified Detective Sergeant Paige Pascoe, portrayed by Singh. The series promises a blend of humor, heart, and humanity, showcasing their contrasting methods as they strive to form an effective partnership.
The reboot draws inspiration from the books of Reginald Hill, with the original Dalziel and Pascoe airing on the BBC for 12 seasons from 1996 to 2007.
The six-part series is being produced by West Road Pictures, which operates under All3Media. Colette Kane and Daisy Martey will lead the creative team, alongside writers Chris Ryden, Jon Rowe, and Danusia Samal. Executive producers for West Road include Jonathan Fisher, Ellie Birnie, and Ingrid Goodwin, with Kane serving as the lead writer and executive producer. In collaboration with BritBox, Jon Farrar, Stephen Nye, and Lucie Wolfman will also serve as executive producers. ITV’s drama chief Polly Hill and head of scripted comedy Nana Hughes will oversee the project.
Dalziel and Pascoe will be available for streaming on BritBox in the U.S. and Canada, while ITV will broadcast it in the UK. Production is set to begin in the UK this spring.
Godliman expressed her enthusiasm for her role, describing it as "juicy" and highlighting her character’s unique personality: “Accomplished at her job, warm, but also direct to the point of being abrasive. Weary and warm-hearted.”
Singh shared her excitement as well, noting, “I find Kerry hilarious, so I know at times I’ll struggle not to be laughing. Colette Kane and the writing team have incorporated humor so well into the scripts while keeping you constantly guessing what’ll happen next.”
